Here's the list of to-dos and what-nots.

1. YF Video (it's currently on stage-i-dont-know-what)
2. PNW CD compilation (pls send me the title/s of your fav PNW songs and i'll compile them into a cd)
3. Cath Retreat on the 5/6th Jan (Pls give me your names if you want to help friggy)
4. Canteen 9 March 2008 (we've got to start working on that)
5. the YF book (can we finish our articles latest by first week of Jan?)
6. Commissioning Mass (which is our top priority. we're offering up the bk. how about the CD and Video too?)
7. YF Shirt (almost fully settled)
8. YF Fund (for whatever months you haven paid for)

that's currently about it. anyways, can someone come up with an idea on how we're going to pay for YF shirts when they arrive and not when we receive them. i dont want to keep the supplier waiting and the YF fund does not have enough money to pay this one-off. someone please come up with an idea. the problem is, we dont know the price per shirt. thanks.

hello people!

okay. there is a slight change here. i've found a shop that can do our shirts for us. BUT, if we want to do dri-fit shirts, we HAVE to do 100 pieces. that, i feel is not practical because if we keep the shirts for too long, the design will crack if it is on dri-fit. but if we want 40 pieces, we have to do on 100% cotton shirts. if we were to chose set 5 or any of the sets with more colours unlike the black ones, we have to pay $20 per shirt. so since we are ordering 40 shirts, the total cost would be $800. and currently, our YF funds is in debt of $29. so how we are going to afford the extra shirts, i dont know.

so yupps. you guys decide then let manda or myself know. cos i think $20 is quite okay, but we might have to take away the side coloured design if it is on polo shirts.

here are the details for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang which i checked out. So we will be taking the student tickets at $50 each. but there will be an additional charge of $2 for booking fees.

so: $50 + $2 = $52

Saturday is the 17th Nov

Saint Don Bosco, born Giovanni Melchiorre Bosco, and known in English as John Bosco (August 16, 1815 – January 31, 1888), was an Italian Catholic priest, educator and recognized pedagogue, who put into practice the dogma of his religion, employing teaching methods based on love rather than punishment. He placed his works under the protection of Francis de Sales; thus his followers styled themselves the Salesian Society. He is the only Saint with the title "Father and Teacher of Youth". Don Bosco died on January 31, 1888.

im still paging for any of you to come forward to blog on this blog. If you've noticed, there is this new tab named "inspirations". and i've started it by writing my own experience. so please, help and contribute and article. unlike the main catechist blog, im not going to have this vetting system. so basically, all you have to do is post and we'll read. no right and wrong.

so far the only 2 people who are blogging are mainly edward and I. this blog is going to be like my own personal blog if no one else posts stuff. you do not necessarily have to post under "announcements". you can always post under "inspirations", "photos"...etc. tagging isn exactly making this blog look more alive. PLEASE GUYS! i feel like jeremy who has to beg the teens to blog or tag. we're YFs not teens for goodness sakes!

just some information...
1. if you are posting under any categories other than "announcements", you'll have to use html under the word "template" on the main dashboard. if you do not know how to, here are some basic codes.
(I) "<-b>"<-/b>"is for BOLD. you can slot the words between ">" and "<"
(II) "<-u>"<-/u>" is for underline
(III)"<-i>"<-i>" is for italics
(IV)"<-br>" is for break/to the next line. please exclude the "-" in the code.
(V) "<-font>"<-font>" is to edit the fonts.

Hello all,

Yesterday the Youth Day thing was a blast lah. need I say more? But I shall nevertheless :)

I think that yesterday, the YFs showed our closeness as a team, how we worked together as well as bringing the YC into our circle. Very proud of all of us for that, because now EVERYONE knows the YFs are NOT clique-ish and whatnot.

Overall I think we were successful in our roles as facils and everything else, be it praise and worship, discipline, crowd control etc etc.

So yes, before I continue on and keep repeating my words, I shall summarise in two words:

YF'S ROCK!!! :)

Dear All

Whenever we mention Father's Day, we automatically think of our natural father at home. The "Fathers" whom we always call in church are usually forgotten during such occasion. In support of our PPC suggestion, let's do something this year to make it a special day for our parish priests as our gratitude for what they have done for us /church.

There is no obligation but we believe this is something that would develop parish spirit and unity. This should also be kept quiet from the priests as we hope that this would be a pleasant surprise for them.

It was suggested that a simple drawing or a card with little spending would suffice as every little thing counts. In view of the little time left, we need to act really quickly. As such, I would appreciate the YFs to come up with something.

HI everyone. just a quicky post before i continue mugging! hahaha. yeah all you o level people out there can relax while we MUG(:

anyways, i need HELP with planning some games. Im thinking of making good use of the left-over materials we have from the games day. meaning, we can use the cardboxes, markers, spoons, hula-hoop, water bombs, raffia strings...etc that we have left. if you're wondering...

YES! francis has given us the green-light to have wet games in the afternoon.

so we dont have to worry about the restrictions about that issue. Do you guys want to repeat some of the games which you think our con1s enjoyed or do you prefer if i came out with new ones? anyways, think we can make good use of our huge dices!(:

Hi guys, Ed here. Since this has become the unofficial YF blog, I shall post some thoughts here.

Today at formation, we had this informal discussion with Francis about what we can do as YFs to improve the youth movement in HFC. I brought up the point that our voices are not heard since we're hardly represented at any level within the church. I guess that it comes down to the fact that we've all been trained into this 'we can't do shit because the church will shut us down' attitude. Not through any of our faults, but that's the way it has become.

I was listening to this song on the new Linkin Park album, it's called Hands Held High, some of the lyrics struck me as something that we should be aiming for, or trying to do. Val will post the song up soon so you guys can listen to it :)

Here's the lyrics I was talking about:

hello people,

the blog seems to be dead now but im still updating so i expect you ppl to read it(:

sat yfs: it's settled. we have to call the parents of the teens and we must also get them to download the forms for the website. the name list with their home number will be in tmr. so only then will i pass on the numbers to you guys. i'll do the distributing of numbers. and please take note that we are NOT supposed to disclose these numbers to anyone as some teens might not like their particulars disclosed.
things to take note of
1. ask for the parents and not the teens. (if they should ask you who you are, just tell them your name and do not tell them where you are calling from as i know some of the teens will put the phone down on you)
2. when talking to the parents, tell them that you are "calling from the Church of the Holy Family Cath Ministry". tell them about the games day and tell them to download the consent forms from the church website.
3. tell them that their teens need to bring the consent forms on games day (19th may)
4. ask them if they are g0ing to contribute food or not. if yes, ask what they will be contributing. (take it down and send back to me)
5. inform them that there will be no lesson next sat.

just for your information, since sabrina kindly brought ALOT of ping pong balls for us, we will be using pingpong balls for the egg-relay instead so we do not waste so much food.

OK PEOPLE! since the church is not going to sponsor us (i just found out), we're going to have to share the cost. in order to be fair to one-and-all, i suggest that whatever you're buying which does not come under the "free" and "borrowed" list, please get a receipt for it to make the spliting of the cost fair.

just to keep you guys informed, i've already bought 300 drink packets to be used as the waterbombs, the warning tape to cordon off the out-of-bounds area and the glue to glue the spoons together. the chicken will be bought by amanda. i will be buying the spoons and the eggs. as for the poles for the flag, i'll be sawing off my old bamboos so i'll do it.

to summarise it, you guys DO NOT have to buy:

TUG-OF-WAR
Contrary to the name of the game, this game is not your standard usual Tug-Of-War game. I forgot the name of the game, so I’ll just call it Tug-Of-War as it is kind of similar to it. So anyway this is how the game goes:

HOW TO PLAY:
Due to the violent nature of the standard Tug-Of-War, only 2 people are allowed to play at one go (one game). GLs who choose to play this game with their groups are allowed to decide how many rounds they want their group to play. But there must at least be a minimum of 5 rounds. The group who wins the most rounds wins.

Basically, 2 people will put the belts on that is tied to the ends of a nylon rope. For safety purposes, the belts can only be worn around their waist and not anywhere else on their body (eg. shoulders). Two chairs with a plate containing 2 pieces of Cream Crackers will be placed at the ends. The AIM of the game is for them to wrestle their way through and finish up the Cream Crackers.
ONLY BOYS VS BOYS AND GIRLS VS GIRLS ROUNDS!! NO GIRL VS BOY ROUNDS!!!

ITEMS NEEDED:
1) 1 tin of Cream Crackers
2) 1 small cup of Wasabi (This is to make the game harder)
3) 1 1m long Nylon Rope
4) 2 Belts (preferably longer ones so as to fit everyone with different waistlines)
5) Towels (optional)
6) 2 chairs/stools

Belts would be tied to the ends of the Nylon Rope
Chairs would be placed at the ends which will contain a plate of Cream Crackers each.

OK! this whole thing is from James and it is up to the GLs to decide if they want to play it or not. only the ice-breakers has a list of games you people can choose from. please chose games that will be able to last for 3o mins. this DOES NOT mean you have to keep playing the game for 30mins. you are to select A FEW games from the list of "ice-breakers".

and more importantly, please refer to the post before this post as there are more important messages there.

GLs: please chose the ice-breakers you wish to play and inform me ASAP so we can prepare enough materials for everyone. THANKS!(:

sun class. Or vice versa, depending on the turn out.
5. GLs can select any group that they want to take.
6. GCs will oversee all events and that includes photography.
7. Each GM will be incharge of 2 Game stations. (1 station during each Game Grouping)
8. Catechists will just play and enjoy themselves.
9. Food is to be settled by the FOOD COMM, which will be the catechists.
